Hazardous Substances Workshop | Wednesday, 17th April 2019: Auckland

The last few months have been very busy indeed, but we’re back with our new introductory half-day workshop brought to you by WasteMINZ. This special workshop concentrates on Hazardous Substances Management and will provide you with a preliminary summary and practical interpretation of hazardous substances whilst equipping you with the knowledge to follow the correct safety procedures when handling such substances. 

Our very own Daniel Allen, owner and operator of Hazchem Services, will be facilitating this workshop which is specially designed for organisations which use and store hazardous substances. Dan will focus on the Health & Safety at Work Act as well as following the statutory framework governing the handling of hazardous substances in the commercial and industrial context. This workshop is perfect for team members using chemicals, managers/supervisors who wish to learn more, new company members or even as a refresher course for current employees. 

So, what does the programme look like? The half-day workshop will be split into 6 sections as follows; 

• Section 1: Overview (Hazardous Substances and Dangerous Goods) 
• Section 2: Legal aspects – relevant legislation and overview of key legal principles 
• Section 3: Safety data sheets 
• Section 4: Safe storage of chemicals 
• Section 5: Emergency response and spill management 
• Section 6: Hazardous waste management
